About the Department
The purpose of the internship is to give experience to an individual in communications and social media for a local government organization. The position will work within the Wilmington Fire Department alongside the Public Information Officer and will be for a maximum of 300 hours.
Position Duties
Tasks will include:
- Research and curate content for department social media platforms
- Track and analyze social media analytics for department
- Assist in creation of internal and external communications platforms (newsletters, posters/flyers, videos, magazine-style print publications, etc)
- Assist in the planning, production, and photography for video content
- Assist in the maintenance of the department website and mobile app
- Write press releases
- Assist in planning department community outreach efforts (open houses, Citizens Academy, Junior Fire Academy, etc)
- Assist in the creation of a guided video tour of the Fallen Firefighters Memorial at Station
Minimum Qualifications
Formal Education | Candidate must be currently enrolled in an accredited college/university program in communications, marketing or a related field. |
