Description
This position performs technical duties in the inspection of the city's ponds and outfalls.
- Conducts analytical and visual inspections of stormwater outfalls.
- Checks rain gauges and records measurements.
- Maintains daily logs of activities, readings and inspection results.
- Inspects city ponds annually and following major rain events.
- Inspects stormwater pump (e.g. Mary Street pond pump)
- Provides assistance to Stormwater crews as needed with inspections, cleaning, and other maintenance of the stormwater system.
- Performs related duties.
Requirements
- Knowledge of the pond and outfall inspection principle and practices.
- Knowledge of city and departmental safety policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of testing procedures used to determine conductivity, detergents, pH levels, temperature and fluoride levels.
- Skill in the operation of an assigned vehicle.
- Skill in prioritizing and organizing work.
- Skill in the preparation of required reports.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
