Salary Range:                   $27.01 - $44.57 Hourly / $56,180.80 - $92,705.60 Annually

FLSA Position Class:        Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Work Schedule:                M – F, 8AM to 5PM with one hour lunch break

Job Overview
This position is responsible for maintaining, upgrading, and managing hardware and related software; responsible for ensuring that the city’s technology, equipment, and devices run smoothly and efficiently.

Position Duties

NOTE: Employee may be required to respond to a disaster, either natural or man-made, to serve the citizens of Statesville and meet the needs of the organization, which may result in the assignment of other duties and take precedence over duties described in this job description. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. 

• Assists with the installation of IT infrastructure including Streaming and Broadcast equipment.

• Installs and configures end user hardware and related software. 
• IT Inventory Management including annual workstation rollouts and equipment surplus.
• Upgrades systems with new releases and models.
• Monitors system performance and troubleshoots issues. 
• Troubleshoots and repairs low voltage cabling and VOIP devices.
• Installs and maintains Wireless Access Points and related hardware.
• Monitors security according to requirements.
• Assists with Helpdesk tasks as assigned including onsite support.
• Assists with training staff on new and current technologies.
• Supports Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery processes.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

• Associate’s degree in information technology, computer science, or related field.
• Four (4) years of experience as an IT Field Technician or similar role.

Requirements

• Possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license, or any valid driver’s license with ability to obtain a North Carolina driver’s license within 60 days of establishing a permanent residence in North Carolina.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

• Thorough knowledge of operations, capabilities, and maintenance of hardware and software applications.
• Working knowledge of security technologies including firewall, internet, A/V, Malware, SSL certificates, and email.
• Ability to work with patch panels, low voltage cabling, and other related hardware.
• Ability to communicate ideas clearly, concisely, and effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and effectively prioritize tasks.
• Ability to collaborate with a team and utilize project workflow.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, department heads, users, external agencies, and vendors.
• Excellent customer service skills. 

Job Related Physical Requirements

This position involves field-related work requiring the exertion of 25 or more pounds of force occasionally and/or an amount of force frequently or constantly used to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Field related work requires occasionally being exposed to elements and working on ladders and elevated equipment. This job requires vocal communication to express thoughts and exchange information; hearing is required to respond to spoken words, to receive and understand information, and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operation of equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities.

Working Conditions

The employee may occasionally be subject to adverse environmental conditions. Employees may be required to work nights, weekends, and respond to emergency calls. 

Provides municipal services and local governance for Statesville residents.
