About the role
Seattle City Light, a department of the City of Seattle, is one of the nation's largest municipally owned utilities in terms of the number of customers served. Over the years we have worked very hard to keep Seattle's electricity affordable, reliable, and environmentally sound. Today, City Light is a recognized national leader in energy efficiency and environmental stewardship.
The Customer Energy Solutions (CES) division of Seattle City Light implements the longest continuously operating municipal energy conservation initiative in the country. CES is responsible for acquiring/delivering all cost-effective energy efficiency (kWh) to the utility (a least-cost resource) in support of I-937 targets – preserving and extending the benefits of Seattle City Light's low-cost, carbon-neutral resources. The Program Delivery team is responsible for delivering our portfolio of demand-side management programs to our commercial, industrial, and institutional customers. We are currently hiring Incentive Program Delivery Data Analyst Intern to support our Program Delivery team.
This graduate-level intern will participate on a team of multi-disciplinary energy management professionals who promote and deliver the utility's portfolio of demand-side management programs to its commercial, industrial, multifamily, and institutional customers. The team leverages a salesforce-based project development software solution to track all project information. We have opportunities to help leverage the data we track to develop reports and dashboards for staff members, leadership, and also reporting out to other City Light internal and external stakeholders. There are some opportunities on documenting process, best practices, and implementing storage best practices. We'd want this intern to directly support those efforts both along with consultants and internal staff members. Additionally, there are some data-related efforts to verify savings on conservation projects. There are bodies of work our Energy Management Analysts undertake that require data analysis and development to arrive at trending data for a customer project and compare performance after conservation measures have been installed. We use the ECAM software for this and would be training the intern how to develop the regression analysis with it.
Learning Objectives:
Aggregate larger data sets to curated information material to share out with stakeholders of various business levels.
Process documentation, information storage, and process improvement efforts in an energy-related environment.
Understanding the resource acquisitions efforts of a utility; help develop trending data via regression analysis to model energy for buildings.
