About the Department

The City of Santa Clarita is currently recruiting for a part-time, temporary, seasonal (PTS) employee to work directly with the City’s graffiti removal program. This is a part-time position in the Community Preservation Division of the Community Development Department. This role averages two to three 8-hour shifts per week. Days are flexible, but availability is required from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at least three days a week, including Saturdays. Duties and Responsibilities • Works with graffiti removal volunteers and staff to remove graffiti using paint, pressure washer, paint sprayer, chemicals, etc. • Inputs data regarding graffiti incidents in the TagTracker computer database using a desktop or laptop computer • Conducts inventory of supplies and vehicle/equipment inspections daily • Stocks all trucks and pressure washers with supplies and equipment • Follows up on graffiti requests and provides timely updates to Supervisor, team lead, and/or community members • Attends safety trainings and staff meetings • Follows and enforces City policies as they relate to the health, behavior, and safety of others • Performs other duties, as directed by the Graffiti Specialist, Graffiti Coordinator, or the Community Preservation Manager

Position Duties

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent • Valid Class C California Driver's License and safe driving record is required • Graffiti removal experience is highly desirable • Bilingual in English and Spanish is highly desirable • A combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered

Minimum Qualifications

• Ability to utilize a pressure washer that discharges 3,500 pounds per square inch of water • Strong computer skills and the ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel, and input data in various computer software tracking programs • Ability to perform data entry and maintain clear, accurate, and timely records • Strong customer service skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships with City staff and the public • Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a cohesive work team • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to demonstrate professional judgment and learn quickly • Ability to observe safety principles and work in a safe manner • Ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments with efficiency • Flexibility to work a variety of hours/days • This position requires physical labor, including the ability to lift, drag, and push equipment that may weigh up to 75 pounds or more, and the ability to perform manual labor outside in inclement weather, as well as standing, reaching, bending, and squatting at least 50% of the shift

In addition, part-time, temporary, and seasonal (PTS) employees may be required to participate in the DMV Employer Pull-Notice Program. This program authorizes the City to receive a driver record report upon enrollment and during employment. This is not a designated Retired Annuitant position. If you are a California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS) retiree, you may be required to reinstate into CalPERS. PTS workers are at-will.
