Starting Pay: $22:15 per hour
This position performs administrative work coordinating community engagement programs and events, serving as a liaison to vendors while managing logistics, budgets, and expenses. Provides administrative support to boards and commissions by preparing meeting materials and completing follow-up tasks. Manages website content and marketing materials, conducts funding research and grant support, and compiles reports and performance data.
Position Duties
- Coordinates and facilitates community engagement programs and events, including vendor coordination, dissemination of event information, and ensuring compliance with established rules and expectations. Assists with budget development and monitor program expenditures.
- Provide administrative support to the Planning Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals, and Historic District Commission , including preparation of meeting notices, agendas, and minutes, and coordination of required information and follow-up activities.
- Develop and maintain digital and print communications, including website content, social media, and marketing materials to support Neighborhood Services programs.
- Provide customer service to the public and applicants by responding to inquiries regarding zoning and planning processes for the City of Saginaw.
- Researches and support funding opportunities for local and regional initiatives and assisting with grant application preparation and submission.
- Prepares and maintain reports and records, including program statistics and performance data, and other required documentation.
- Monitors and evaluates program and event effectiveness and maintain inventory and procurement of supplies and materials necessary to support operations.

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Associates degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Public Administration, or Urban studies or closely related field.
- One to three years related experience in coordinating special events, community engagement, outreach and marketing, preferably in the public sector.
Licenses and Certifications- Must possess and maintain a valid State of Michigan driver’s license.
- Master Citizen Planner Credential, through Michigan State University Extension, preferred upon hire.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities- Effective communicator with strong oral and written skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Canva.
- Strong ability to prioritize, multi-task, schedule, and meet deadlines.
- Able to lead and facilitate meetings.
- Able to analyze data and draw conclusions.
- Skill in planning, coordinating, and executing community events.
- Ability to manage events and programs within budgetary allocations and foster relationships with community stakeholders.
- Ability to interpret zoning ordinances and communicate such to a diverse population.

Work Environment
Work is performed in a combination of office and community event settings. Exposure to varying weather conditions and fumes or airborne particles when attending or coordinating outdoor events. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required to support meetings and community events.
Physical Demands
- Occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force.
- Frequent sitting; occasional standing and walking.
- Occasional reaching with hands and arms, gross manipulation, fine manipulation, driving within the city to attend meetings and community events.
