Unique opportunity to work for the City of Reidsville as part-time event staff at the Penn House and Market Square. Please note, most hours are scheduled for evenings and weekends.
This position plays a key role in the successful operation of events, programs, and special functions at the Penn House facility and downtown Market Square. The employee assists with coordinating and supervising a wide range of activities, ensuring events run smoothly and that guests, renters, and vendors have a positive experience.
Responsibilities include managing event logistics, serving as a point of contact for facility users, caterers, and vendors, and providing on-site support before, during, and after events. The employee helps maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment, performing routine facility upkeep throughout events as needed. Strong problem-solving skills and a customer-focused mindset are essential, as the role requires responding to questions, addressing issues, and providing clear directions or setup assistance.
The position requires a general understanding of Penn House operations and the ability to use a computer, including basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Work is primarily scheduled during evenings and weekends and includes both indoor and outdoor duties. This role operates under the supervision of the Penn House Manager and the Market Square Manager.
Position Duties
Essential Duties
- Assists the Penn House/Market Square Manager in coordinating and supervising various functions and special programs at the Penn House and Market Square.
- Maintains cleanliness of dining and meeting rooms, as well as the kitchen, and bathroom facilities at the Penn House. This is done through an event checklist.
- Work events and assist customers as needed with setup, clean-up, coordinating vendors, etc.
- Performs related duties as required.

- Ability to use Word and Excel programs.

Physical Requirements
- Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking and hearing.
- Must be able to perform light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
- Must possess the visual acuity to operate a computer, use measurement devices, operate maintenance equipment and motor vehicles, and inspect work for accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness.
