Description
The City of Ottumwa is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Seasonal Code Enforcement Inspector to join our team for the spring and summer months. In this role, you’ll help keep our community clean and well-maintained by identifying nuisance violations such as unmowed lawns and junk vehicles.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting field inspections and documenting issues with digital photos
- Preparing notices and required paperwork for case files
- Communicating with property owners and occupants regarding corrective actions
- Assisting with phone calls and taking messages

Requirements
Training / Education and Experience Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent GED
- Valid driver's license
Skills / Abilities Requirements
- Recordkeeping principles;
- Time Management;
- Knowledge of relevant policies, procedures and strategies to promote local and state statutes;
- Communication skills such as active listening, oral and written communication to deal with customers and other stakeholders.
- Ability to use computers and relevant software (ex.: Microsoft Office). Requires frequent use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
