About the role

This job is for temporary use in the development of graduate students obtaining licensure as a Professional Engineer. Under the guidance of a licensed Professional Engineer, you are responsible to provide engineering support in a diverse range of projects. General activities may include carrying out engineering studies/reviews, data analysis and preparing technical reports. You will follow a work plan that provides more detailed objectives and duties by specific departments. Departments include: Infrastructure & Water Services Department is responsible for implementing city-building priorities from planning and delivering infrastructure projects, managing assets and investments, and providing residents with high-quality drinking water, the collection and treatment of wastewater, and ensuring storm and surface water is efficiently managed. Building a better Ottawa for all to enjoy, today and into the future. Planning, Real Estate & Economic Development Department is responsible for the planning and delivery of growth activities for the City of Ottawa, including long range land use planning, the City's long-term transportation plan, the prioritization of transportation investments, development approvals, management and long-term strategies for the City's real estate portfolio, delivering on major city-building projects, and identifying opportunities to foster economic prosperity. Public Works Department is responsible for ensuring the City's municipal infrastructure is properly operated and maintained, and for overseeing drinking water production and distribution, wastewater collection and treatment, surface water management, and solid waste collection, processing and disposal. Transit Services Department is responsible for providing a holistic transportation hub focused on addressing the planning, implementation, operations and delivery of all modes of transportation in the City of Ottawa. Finance and Corporate Services Department is responsible for the delivery of integral services to ensure the organization achieves operational excellence and corporate priorities.
