JOB SUMMARY
The Recreation Facility Attendant supports the daily operations of the Orange Beach Fitness Center. The employee greets and assists patrons, answers phone calls, registers members and participants, and processes daily financial transactions. This role helps maintain a clean, secure, and welcoming facility and monitors activity to ensure a safe environment for all members and guests.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Registers members and non-members for access to recreation and fitness facilities.
- Maintains accurate and current membership and participation records.
- Monitors after-hours access footage to ensure compliance with facility policies.
- Assists with setting up and breaking down fitness classes and programs.
- Registers participants for athletic, recreational, and special interest programs.
- Answers questions, addresses concerns, and directs patrons to the appropriate department when needed.
- Addresses disciplinary issues in lobby and gym areas; complete incident reports as required.
- Provides minor first aid and complete accident reports when necessary.
- Maintains cleanliness, safety, and security throughout the Fitness Center.
- Notifies the Manager/Supervisor of needed repairs or maintenance issues.
- Maintains proper storage and inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Promotes positive public relations through courteous and professional customer service.
- Enforces all facility policies and procedures.
- Follows established opening and closing procedures.

- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, and the public.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities efficiently.
- Strong verbal communication skills to provide clear and accurate information.
- Basic math skills to perform financial and cash-handling duties.
- Computer skills for registration, recordkeeping, and report preparation.
- Writing skills to accurately complete forms, reports, and documentation.
- Knowledge of City and departmental policies, rules, and procedures.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in a customer service-related field.
- Current and valid Alabama driver’s license.
- Willingness to travel for conferences, workshops, or seminars as required.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and non-standard hours.
- American Red Cross First Aid and CPR certification or ability to obtain one within one year of hire.

The employee follows standard safety practices, including proper use of office equipment, awareness of fire regulations, and avoidance of slips, trips, and falls. Work areas are adequately lit, heated, and ventilated.
