About the Department

This position is responsible for maintaining customer service as per City standards; stocking liquor, light housekeeping, efficient completion of transactions, and proper control of all cash.

Position Duties

• Provides excellent customer service to all members of our community, inclusive of all races, genders, sexual orientations, religions, abilities, ages, national or ethnic origins, languages, citizenship status, socioeconomic status, and political affiliations.
• Ensures that each customer receives outstanding service by providing a friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every guest, maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge and all other components of guest service.
• Assists customers in selection of various brands of liquors, wines, etc.; advises on quantity of purchase for special occasions.
• Receives, opens, unpacks, and inspects product shipments.
• Transports product to the basement, the coolers or onto the sales floor.
• Stocks and arranges merchandise on shelves and racks, in bins, or on display cases/tables with new or transferred product with the main goal of preventing sales losses by making sure there are adequate supplies of product available.
• Operates electronic cash register to enter sales, verify checks for cashing, make change, etc. Data entry into point of sale computer software system as assigned.
• Product returns, exchanges, merchandise credits, check authorization, charge sends, rain-checks and discretion discounts (i.e. competitive, employee sales, etc.); assures the completion of all transactions and the proper control of all cash and media at the registers according to City policies and procedures.
• Performs ID verifications and sobriety assessments of all customers to comply with regulations and store policies. Communicates with police department about fake identifications, underage buyer, violent or abusive customers, and/or intoxicated driver.
• Pack customer purchases in bags or cartons.
• Close and secure store after evening shift.
• Lift, carry and transport packages to customers’ vehicles.
• Sets up and takes down and reposition displays daily to creatively promote sales and interest in products.
• Stamp, attach, or change price tags on merchandise.
• Cleans display cases, shelves, merchandise, and aisles.
• Performs light housekeeping functions to maintain the premises both inside and out in a neat and clean.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

• Ability to establish and maintain courteous and effective working relationships with city personnel and the general public; maintains professional demeanor, tone, and conversations in all public areas of the city.
• Ensures compliance of store policies, procedures and practices; and supports security and loss control efforts. Maintains a high level of confidentiality and complies with all legal requirements of the job. Adheres to all city and finance department policies, procedures, and requirements.
• Proper and safe use and maintenance of any assigned City vehicle, equipment, property etc. Observes and practices safe work habits. Attend and maintain all departmental training and safety requirements to be legal, safe, and compliant with laws and regulations.
• Effectively coordinates activities with other staff. Actively participates and promotes all department activities, duties, meetings, training sessions, etc. as a team member.
• Proper & safe use & maintenance of any assigned City vehicle, equipment, property, etc.
• Attends all training to ensure a legal, safe, and compliant work environment.
• Observes & practices safe work habits. Maintains and monitors all training departmental & safety requirements to be legal, safe, & compliant with laws & regulations.
• Ensure compliance with pertinent Federal, State and local codes, laws and regulations including the Minnesota Data Practices Act, (OSHA) Occupational Safety and Health Act and complies with all City and departmental policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications


MINIMUM
Must be 21 years of age or older. High School diploma. Previous stocking/cashiering experience required with a demonstrated proficiency in point of sale cash register system and or Microsoft Office products. No criminal history or drunk driving related convictions.

PREFERRED
Experience in working at an on-sale and or off-sale liquor establishment.

Other Qualifications

Part time hours can range from 12 hours per week to 19 hours per week – determined at date of hire how many hours per week. Schedule is flexible, Sunday through Saturday. Position requires flexibility in scheduling to include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Timely reporting with minimal absences. Ineligible for hybrid telecommuting work.
