About the Department

The Summer Internship is hands-on exposure to every aspect of the City’s government while working 15-20 hours per week in a 10-week long Comprehensive Summer Internship Program. Interns will learn from and work closely with certain departments throughout the summer based on the City’s needs and intern’s interests, skills, and area of study.

Position Duties

  • Researching various subjects throughout the City of Milton.
  • Working on projects that involve one or multiple departments.
  • Compiling data for new projects or ideas.
  • Acting as a liaison for the City - building relationships with businesses, contractors, and citizens of Milton.
  • Working on budgets.
  • Creating presentations for the community, City staff, or City Council.
  • Administrative work - filing paperwork, cataloging records, cleaning out drives, etc.
  • Assisting with City of Milton events, programs, and initiatives as both a volunteer and organizer.
  • Taking photos or videos throughout the city and on certain themes.
  • Creating surveys
  • Creating surveys and other means to engage the public.
  • Participating in meetings.
  • Writing proposals and drafting plans.
  • Going on field assignments

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • 18 years old or older.
  • In college, or high school graduate.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Work or volunteer experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Interest and/or experience in public service.
  • Interest and/or experience in government (at any level).
  • Experience in a workplace environment.
  • Curiosity, adeptness at variety of tasks, and ability to learn new things quickly.
