Custodian - Seniors #2

Requirements

The Center on the Lake Custodian safely maintains the cleanliness of the building. This is a part-time position working 20 hours per week. 

 

Summary

Custodians at Maumelle Center on the Lake are responsible for safely maintaining the cleanliness of the building and grounds for patrons, members, and guests. A predominantly frail and elderly population patronizes the Center. A custodian's responsibilities include basic cleaning, stocking, and other duties as assigned. This role requires the custodian's presence at the Center four days per week, but stated hours are flexible. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Keep bathrooms clean and stocked.

2. Clean and maintain floors.

3. Wipe down and dust all surfaces.

4. Clean mirrors and glass.

5. Maintain inventory of cleaning products.

6. Assist with setup/tear-downs of events.

7. Complete other duties and tasks as needed or assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must satisfactorily perform each essential duty listed. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities generally required to meet this standard.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • General educational background with/without high school completion
  • 0-6 months related experience and/or training
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered

 

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, notes, letters, and memos; Ability to write simple correspondence.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers. Ability to perform these mathematical skills using money and other forms of measurement.

 

CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS

Ability to use common sense understanding to carry out simple multi-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with limited variables.

Under immediate supervision, performs general assignments of work, with periodic check of performance by supervisor.

 

PLANNING

Limited responsibility for general assignments in planning time, method, manner, and/or sequence of performance of own work operations.

 

DECISION MAKING

Performs work operations which permit frequent opportunity for decision-making of minor importance and which would not only affect the operating efficiency of the individual involved, but would also affect the work operations of other employees and/or clientele to a slight degree.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR FUNDS, PROPERTY and EQUIPMENT

Regularly responsible for property where carelessness or error would result in only minor damage or minor monetary loss. Almost continuous care and attention is required when handling this property in order to prevent loss.

 

ACCURACY

Probable errors of internal scope should ordinarily be detected within the department or office in which they occur, but may affect the work of others within the unit, requiring additional expenditure of time to trace errors and make all necessary corrections. Errors would require a moderate amount of time to correct.
