Lincoln City has a great opportunity with the Parks and Recreation Department at the Community Center as a part-time Referee! This position performs general work acting as a Referee during youth indoor and outdoor soccer, basketball, or volleyball games sponsored by the Lincoln City Community Center.

Requirements
JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS: High School or Junior High School education or equivalent supplemented by experience playing or refereeing soccer or any combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the above duties. Must have strong knowledge of the rules and plays involved in the game of soccer and the ability to apply that knowledge during a fast-moving game to make fair and decisive calls. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, respectfully, professionally and with confidence, including the ability to handle disagreements and the pressures of the game. Knowledge of safety and emergency procedures. Ability to maintain order and act as a leader and role model for youth. Must also have a flexible schedule and arrive early to ensure timely start of games and stay after games to participate in clean-up.
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS: Bilingual (English/Spanish).
Summary
PURPOSE OF POSITION: General work acting as a Referee during youth indoor and outdoor soccer, basketball, or volleyball games sponsored by the Lincoln City Community Center.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Perform Referee duties as designated by the Recreation Supervisor. This includes having a clear understanding of the rules and plays of the game of soccer, paying close attention during games and making fair decisions/calls during the game.
Provide instruction and guidance to soccer players as needed and directed.
Communicate effectively and respectfully with players, spectators, parents and others regarding the rules of play and calls.
Assist with set-up and clean-up of the gym, field and equipment before and after games.
Follow all safety rules and procedures. Maintain program equipment in safe working order. Notify appropriate individuals of needed repairs.
Other related duties as assigned.
AUXILIARY JOB FUNCTIONS: Provide assistance to other staff as workload and staffing levels dictate.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF POSITION: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, run or walk briskly back and forth up and down the court, communicate with a variety of people, reach and manipulate objects, tools or controls. This position requires mobility, manual dexterity and coordination while performing job duties. Duties involve moving materials weighing up to 15 pounds on a regular basis and may infrequently require moving materials weighing up to 40 pounds (such as sports equipment). During training will need to run drills.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Working conditions are typical of an indoor gym or outdoor field environment with exposure to noise, weather and fumes.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the general supervision of the Recreation Program Supervisor. Takes direction from the Soccer Coordinator.
