We’re seeking a Public Transit Operator to provide safe and reliable transportation services to residents throughout the City of Kingman. This role operates public transit vehicles along assigned routes and supports daily transit operations. This position requires a strong focus on safety, professionalism, and dependable service. The position may require early mornings, evenings, or weekend shifts as scheduled to support transit service operations.

About You:
You are safety-minded, dependable, and comfortable working in a public-facing role. You can work independently while following established routes, schedules, and procedures. You are comfortable assisting passengers and can communicate clearly with dispatch, coworkers, and the public. You take pride in operating vehicles safely and providing courteous service throughout your shift.

Position Duties

  • High school diploma or GED 

  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (Class C or higher) with a “P” (Passenger) endorsement

  • One (1) year of experience operating a transit bus or passenger van

  • Excellent driving record

  • Ability to complete pre-employment and ongoing drug and alcohol testing in accordance with City policy and FTA Safety Sensitive requirements

  • Experience transporting or working with elderly and disabled individuals is preferred

Minimum Qualifications

Transit Operations & Passenger Transport (65%): Operate public transit vehicles along assigned routes. Assist passengers with boarding and exiting, operate wheelchair lifts or ramps, secure mobility devices and passenger equipment, and provide route and schedule information as needed.

Vehicle Inspection, Safety & Maintenance (10%): Complete daily pre/mid/post vehicle inspections, record findings, report mechanical issues, fuel and clean vehicles, and maintain vehicle log books. 

Fare Collection, Documentation & Reporting (15%): Collect fares, check passenger passes, complete required paperwork, transport collected fares to the Transit Office, and prepare accident and other required reports in accordance with federal and state regulations.

Dispatch Support & Team Support (10%): Communicate with dispatch, monitor onboard activity for safety concerns, assist with training and cross-training of other operators, provide backup support to other drivers, and assist dispatch operations when assigned.
