This position exercises independent judgement in evaluating situations and in making determinations at the issuance counter and understands the basic construction components and practices associated with the project.
The employee will have the responsibility of:
· Receiving the public and answers questions
· Assisting and counsel’s public and contractors in applying for building permits in the web-based software program and answers questions about permits
· Reviewing and issuing building permit applications and contractor licenses
· Assigning and collecting all development fees
· Scheduling building inspections
· Preparing permit documents, daily permit issuance, and fee traction reports
· Balancing Cash drawer daily and preparing transmittal of funds to Finance Department
· Verifying contactor registration
· Performing preliminary reviews for over-the-counter permits

Required Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
· Graduation from a high school or equivalent with course work in general office practices such as typing, filing, accounting, and bookkeeping; and
· Two (2) years of increasingly responsible related experience; or
· Any equivalent combination of education and experience
Special Requirements:
· Must have a valid Texas driver’s license within ninety (90) days of hire
· Must have a valid driver’s license by date-of-hire
· Must obtain the ICC Permit Technician Certificate with in eight (8) months of employment
