Pathologists' Assistant - Research / Biorepository (Full Time, On-Site in Duarte, CA)

City of Hope is hiring a certified Pathologists' Assistant to support surgical pathology and biorepository operations. The role includes specimen processing, frozen sections, autopsy support, research coordination, and serving as a liaison with research teams. Operating within a CLIA-regulated lab, the position involves collaboration with both Surgical Pathology and Biorepository leadership. Flexibility is required for on-call shifts (~5 days/month) to collect postmortem tissues within 24 hours of donation. Each workday is a full 8-hour shift.

As a successful candidate, you will: 

  • Accession surgical specimens in the Laboratory Information System (LIS)

  • Process and gross specimens according to CAP and CLIA 88 guidelines (Lists A, B, and C) for anatomic pathology

  • Conduct quality control and assurance procedures to maintain lab standards

  • Maintain gross room operations, including equipment, inventory, specimen storage/disposal, and overall cleanliness

  • Perform clinical and research autopsies with precision and professionalism

  • Support surgical pathology and autopsy services, contributing to both routine and specialized tasks


Your qualifications should include: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Pathologist Assistant Studies. 

  • ASCP / AAPA Pathologist Assistant certification.
