 Compensation and Benefits:

Hiring Salary Range: $47,080.00 - $53,806.00   Full Salary Range: $41,600.00. - $73,176.00 Annually

Monday - Thursday 3:00pm - 11:30pm

What You'll Do:
  • The Night Services Representative responds to water and sewer service emergency requests during late evenings, nights, and weekends. Uses and updates the electronic work order management system and produces work orders for other divisions within the Water Resources Department. Uses independent judgment to accommodate the needs of the City by determining proper corrective action or by referring the problem to other appropriate personnel. This position assists and/or handles traffic flow as required and must accomplish this by following department guidelines and in compliance with OSHA regulations for job site Work Zone Safety. All duties are performed to provide outstanding customer service and to ensure employee, public, and environmental safety. Work includes addressing after hour water and sewer emergency calls which include but not limited to: residential sewer backups; sewer main stops; water main breaks; emergency water cut off and cut ons; installation of water meters; performing pressure tests; replacing meter box tops and clean outs; addressing water quality issues; overflowing manholes; bad odor calls; replacing manhole covers; checking cave-ins and flushing hydrants.
    This position uses and updates the work order management system and produces work orders for other divisions within the Water Resources Department. These jobs are performed using various tools, such as shovels, sewer machines, sounding rods, locating equipment, and other specialized tools needed to complete the job. Physical requirements include the ability to do bending, stooping, climbing, and heavy lifting (up to 75lbs.) as needed. This position is considered service critical.
  • This job is Non-Exempt and is subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)

Minimum Qualifications

 Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED
    •  "OR" an equivalency of 3 years education "and" 3 years of related work experience in adverse weather conditions
  • Valid Driver's License
  • 1+ years' experience working in adverse weather conditions in a construction environment 

Preferred Qualifications: 
  • NC-AWWA Grade 1 Collections or Grade C Distribution Certificate
  • Experience reading water/sewer maps.
  • Experience operating a sewer machine or power rodder
  • Work Zone safety training
