Compensation and Benefits:

 

Hiring Salary Range: $46,818 - $61,603  Full Salary Range: $45,017 - $80,557 Annually, depending on qualifications.

Work Schedule: 40 hours weekly. Varied hours: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM-6:00 PM, 12:00 PM - 9:00 PM evening per week, rotating weekend shifts: SAT 9:00 AM- 6:00 PM, SUN 2:00 PM-6:00 PM.

 

The Greensboro Public Library (GPL), part of the City of Greensboro’s Libraries/Museum Department, comprises eight library locations and the Greensboro History Museum. The Greensboro Public Library is seeking a dynamic and service-oriented librarian to join the Information Services team at the Central Library. If you have a passion for connecting people with information, technology, and resources that enrich the community, this is the opportunity for you!

About the Role: This position will serve primarily as a librarian at the Information Services Desk, assisting customers in finding answers using library resources via phone, in-person interactions, and email. The successful candidate will have a proactive approach to customer service, with the ability to:

  • Provide reference services and assist customers in using library resources and technology.
  • Evaluate and organize technology services offered to customers.
  • Teach and promote technology and resources to the community.
  • Create promotional materials, including social media content, videos, and graphic design for library services.
  • Participate in collection development and maintenance.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and community organizations to expand library outreach.

Minimum Qualifications

What You Bring:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree with 1-3 years of experience providing reference services in a public library setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Teams, Outlook, and Word).
  • 1+ years of experience teaching technology to customers, including software and devices.
  • 1+ years of experience in community outreach and networking.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Library Science
  • 1+ years of experience in marketing and promotions, including social media posts, video production, and graphic design.
