Job Summary:

The Facilities Service Worker provides safe and healthy working conditions for all Greeley citizens and employees by maintaining the cleaning of all public and private spaces to employer standards.

Experience, Education, and Skills:

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Bloodborne pathogen certification within three months of employment.

  • Experience using window squeegees and vacuums (wet and dry).

  • Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) clearance within the first month of employment.

OR

Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job,
 

AND

Possession of a valid driver’s license.

Preferred:

  • One to three (1-3) years of custodial experience in general building operations including event setup and tear down and cleaning and maintenance of public buildings

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of basic building maintenance, custodial practices, cleaning methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in facility services.

  • Knowledge of safe work practices, hazard recognition, and the proper use of personal protective equipment.

  • Possess reading/writing and basic mathematics skills.

  • Skill in performing routine maintenance, custodial, and facility support tasks.

  • Skill in using hand tools, power tools, cleaning equipment, and materials safely and effectively.

  • Skill in following work orders, verbal and written instructions, and established procedures.

  • Ability to inspect assigned areas, identify maintenance or safety concerns, and report issues appropriately.

  • Ability to perform physical work, prioritize assigned tasks, work independently or as part of a team, and maintain effective working relationships with staff, vendors, and the public.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Clean and maintain floors and rooms, including dust mopping, damp mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and removing larger debris.

  • Clean restrooms by restocking dispensers, emptying trash, sanitizing fixtures, cleaning mirrors, spot-cleaning partitions and walls, sweeping and mopping tile floors, and cleaning toilets and urinals.

  • Vacuum all designated areas, empty trash receptacles, and replace liners.

  • Clean windows and glass surfaces as assigned.

  • Extract all carpets twice annually and three times in high-traffic areas.

  • Strip and wash all floors four times per year; buff waxed floors as needed.

  • Set up, stock, and maintain cleaning equipment and supply inventories.

  • Ensure sidewalks and main entrances are free of ice and hazards.

  • Set up conference rooms for meetings and ensure all meeting requirements are met.

  • Assist with office moves as needed.

  • Respond promptly and appropriately to all blood and bodily fluid spills; secure the area and emergency kit.

  • Notify supervisor of major repair needs or additions to building operating systems.

  • Report all repair needs through the CityWorks work order system.

  • Follow established routines and standing instructions while using judgment to adjust procedures based on situational needs.

  • Communicate effectively with staff to ensure meeting and facility needs are met.

  • Demonstrate a high level of internal and external customer service.

  • Assist team members when needed to support overall service quality.

  • Perform administrative tasks, including scheduling carpet cleaning per timelines, daily cleaning documentation, and data entry.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Travel - Category A-Standard Local Travel: This position requires occasional local travel within the County. Employees may be expected to walk or drive short distances to attend meetings, trainings, or perform work at other city buildings or partner sites.

Work Environment:

  • Work is performed both indoors and outdoors across various facilities, including office buildings, warehouses, outdoor areas, rooftops, and confined spaces.

  • Work may involve proximity to sensitive or secure areas, including access control points, server rooms, and alarmed facilities.

  • Outdoor work may involve exposure to various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, or snow.

  • The position may require working on or near equipment that generates moderate to loud noise, vibrations, dust, or fumes.

  • Work may involve exposure to loud noise, vibrations, odors, hazardous chemicals, and uneven or slippery surfaces

  • May be required to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency callouts as part of on-call rotations.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently moves throughout facilities, including walking, standing, climbing ladders or scaffolding, working at heights when necessary, and navigating uneven surfaces.

  • Regularly lifts, carries, pushes, or pulls objects weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 80 pounds, with assistance as needed.

  • Performs physically demanding tasks in noisy, dusty, hot, or cold environments while maintaining attention to safety and quality.

  • Uses fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination to safely operate hand and power tools.

  • Frequently bends, stoops, kneels, crouches, reaches overhead and below waist level, and works in awkward positions as needed.

  • Visual acuity to distinguish colors, read displays, and observe work conditions; hears verbal instructions, alarms, and equipment sounds in various work environments.
