This high-impact role works on the City’s communications, media relations, and public messaging—shaping how thousands of residents, partners, and the regional media experience Gahanna. You will build strong media relationships, guide leaders through complex issues, and tell powerful stories that highlight the City’s people, projects, and progress.

You’ll collaborate across every department to spotlight initiatives, connect with the community through modern channels, and turn complex information into clear, engaging messages. From crafting compelling resident communications and branded marketing campaigns to advising elected officials and crisis communications, this position offers a fast-moving, meaningful opportunity to influence public perception and strengthen community trust—all while working with a creative, mission-driven team dedicated to service and impact.


Starting Salary Range: The starting salary is between the minimum and midpoint of the range ($66,955 annually -  $82,014 annually).
Candidates will start at the minimum of the range unless their skills, experience, education or other factors exceed the qualifications for the position.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education, training and experience as listed below which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. A typical way to qualify is a Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field and  Three (3) years of progressively responsible related experience, preferably within a public sector environment. 


Licensure or Certification Requirements: Current and valid Ohio driver’s license with an acceptable driver’s abstract in order to meet criteria for insurability established by the City of Gahanna.
