About the Department

In a pilot programmonitors the maintenance and repair of the grounds and facilities of municipal buildings, parks, open spaces and recreation areas; performs related work as required.

Position Duties

  1. Monitors the maintenance of parks, centers and open space areas.

  2. Ensures proper maintenance and repairs of parks are completed in a timely manner.

  3. Monitors the set up and take down of equipment for various park and recreational programs.

  4. Monitors operation and simulation of park facilities.

  5. Coordinates the development and implementation of recreational and special events.

  6. Works independently on assigned projects.

  7. Performs other work as assigned and/or required.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. High school diploma, Bachelor's degree preferred.

  2. One (1) year of responsible experience in parks and recreation.

       3. Basic knowledge of the principles and practices of public buildings and park facilities.

       4. Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule.

       5. Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.

       6. Ability to establish effective working relationships with contractors and vendors.

 

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT(S):

  • Possession of a valid State of Michigan Driver’s License.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
