About the Department
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Provides resolution of hardware and software issues relating to the City’s Information Technology Infrastructure as well as assisting the Information Technology Services Network Administrator or designee in aspects of network administration duties.
Position Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Manages the Help Desk tickets in a timely manner.
2.Documents user interactions and solutions in tickets.
3.Follow-up with users to ensure issues are resolved.
4.Troubleshoots, diagnoses and resolves technical hardware and/or software issues.
5.Installs, configures and test software and hardware.
6.Trains computer users.
7.Keeps abreast of the latest technology, trends and developments.
8.Collaborates with other IT staff to resolve complex issues by sharing solutions.
9.Identifies and resolves network issues if possible and escalates to the network team, if necessary.
10.Identifies and suggests possible improvements to procures as well as pass on any feedback or suggestions by the users.
11.Performs additional duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in Computer Science, Information System a related field, or education/experience equivalent.
- Experience in desktop systems and communications devices using current technologies.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT(S):- Valid State of Michigan driver’s license at time of application.
- Certification for CompTIA in Network+, A+, or CTP+ is required within six (6) months of appointment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; use hands to operate, finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
