The City of Durango’s Parks & Recreation Department is hiring a part-time Parks Maintenance Worker to support the upkeep of Greenmount Cemetery. Greenmount is one of Durango’s most historic and peaceful landscapes, offering a quiet, well-maintained space where community members visit, reflect, and honor loved ones. This role helps preserve that experience by maintaining the grounds with care.

Position Duties
What You’ll Do in This Role:
- Maintain cemetery grounds, including mowing, trimming, edging, leaf blowing, and general cleanup.
- Clean and maintain facilities such as restrooms and public areas.
- Assist with planting and maintaining landscaped and ornamental areas.
- Operate and maintain small power equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and hedgers.
- Support irrigation system upkeep and basic repairs.
- Assist with repairs to cemetery features such as fencing, signage, benches, and related structures.
- Support full-time staff with seasonal tasks and special projects.
- Provide respectful, courteous service to visitors and families.
Minimum Qualifications
You Have:
- One year of experience in parks, landscaping, grounds maintenance, or related work.
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- A valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one.
You Will Succeed in This Role If You:
- Prefer steady, hands-on outdoor work in all weather conditions.
- Work well independently and as part of a team.
- Communicate respectfully with coworkers and the public.
- Follow safety practices and procedures consistently.
