Public Works Summer Seasonal

About the Department

The City of Crystal Lake is seeking self-motivated individuals with a positive work ethic to fill the position of temporary, seasonal Public Works Laborer for the summer months.
 
General Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing general labor assistance to maintenance crews during the summer months.  Training with vehicles/equipment and familiarization with department safety expectations and operations will be provided upon hire.
 
Position Requirements
The successful candidate must be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver’s license.  The successful candidate must also be able to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis and 75 pounds on an occasional basis.  Work is generally performed outdoors and steel toed boots are required.  Previous maintenance and painting experience a plus.  
 
The work schedule is Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. from approximately May-August.  Candidate must be willing to work occasional overtime, including weekends and holidays, if circumstances warrant.
 
The offer is contingent upon the candidate’s successful completion of a criminal background check and a pre-employment medical exam, including a drug screen.
 
Selection Process
