Systems Administrator II - Airport IT & Phones

About the Job: In this position, you will be responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of the airport’s key enterprise applications and systems, as well as general application administration and migration. You will work with interdepartmental resources and end-users to coordinate and execute the implementation, expansion, configuration, interfacing, and maintenance of applications to meet the airport’s business needs.


Anticipated Work Schedule: 8:00AM - 5:00PM on-site with potential opportunity for flexibility. Workdays vary to ensure team and facility coverage. This position will require rotational emergency call-out coverage.

**The selected candidate must pass (or have already passed) a fingerprint-based criminal history records check as required by the Transportation Security Administration and FBI.**

As a Systems Administrator II, you will:
  • Manage enterprise application and systems administration, configuration, and customization.
  • Support applications in their corresponding cloud-based or on-prem environments.
  • Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing the impact of issues.
  • Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT (Information Technology) staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure.
  • Manage backup and restore operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.
  • Lead airport desktop support efforts, making sure all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions.
  • Coordinate with the City and/or departmental counterparts to troubleshoot or manage enterprise resources.
  • Evaluate vendor products and recommend purchases consistent with the Airport's objectives.
  • Recommend and implement policies and standards; ensure adherence to security procedures.
  • Support the training and skills enhancement of all IT department team members.

We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:

Knowledge of:
  • Methods and techniques of application development, system design, and programming.
  • Principles and procedures of quality assurance and security related to computer information systems.
  • Principles and practices of computer science and information systems.
  • Principles and practices of software troubleshooting.
  • Operational characteristics of a variety of computer platforms and operating systems.
  • Methods and techniques used in the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of information systems.
  • Networking protocols.
  • Proper customer collaboration and engagement techniques.
Ability to: 
  • Communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively verbally and in writing with users, technical support, and management.
  • Identify opportunities and solutions for solving complex business problems.
  • Stay current on new and existing application features and capabilities.
  • Translate business needs into technical terms (and vice versa).
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors and customers.
  • Perform business analysis, including end-user documentation and training.
  • Understand and follow standard operating procedures Federal, State, and local government.
  • Work independently and complete assigned tasks and duties with minimal direction and guidance.

Position Duties

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in IT or a related area of study.
  • Three years of full-time, professional experience in electronic installation and repair, systems administration, technical support, or a related field.

  • Experience troubleshooting hardware and software errors.
  • Experience with programming, system design, and software installation.
  • Experience performing business analysis, including end-user documentation and training.
  • Possess or willing to obtain within six months of hire CompTIA (Computing Technology Industry Association) Security+ and ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) Foundations certifications.
