About the role

The Department of Fleet and Facility Management (2FM) is seeking a Deputy Fleet Manager to manage the citywide fleet operations and fleet maintenance. Under the direction of the Fleet Manager, the Deputy Fleet Manager is responsible for assisting in the planning, organizing, directing, and controlling of all citywide fleet operations to ensure the highest levels of availability and reliability of vehicles and equipment required to support City operations. The Deputy Fleet Manager will help lead a team of skilled fleet professionals in overseeing vehicle and equipment procurement, fleet maintenance, fleet operations, and sustainability initiatives. Key responsibilities include: Oversee and coordinate preventive maintenance and corrective repairs for the City's diverse fleet of over 13,000 vehicles and equipment. Develop and implement vehicle and equipment replacement strategies, disposal plans, and fleet optimization initiatives. Supervise a team of fleet professionals including fleet maintenance supervisors, parts inventory coordinators, and fleet support specialists. Track and analyze fleet performance data to identify opportunities for improvement and develop recommendations to enhance fleet operations. Collaborate with department leaders and stakeholders to ensure fleet services meet the needs of City operations. Develop and monitor fleet policies, procedures, and metrics to promote efficiency and sustainability. Oversee regulatory compliance related to fleet operations. Manage vendor relationships, negotiate and administer maintenance and repair contracts, and monitor contractor performance. Prepare and manage the fleet operations budget, monitor expenditures, and implement cost-saving measures. Perform other duties as assigned.
