Description
This is a grounds maintenance seasonal position that reports to the Parks department supervisor. The position will operate mowers, weed-eaters, and other equipment for the maintenance of the city grounds, rights-of-way, around city-owned buildings etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Inventory management (primary function)
· Operates tractors, mowers and weed eaters and drives a city truck to and from the work sites.
· Picks up and removes limbs and other discarded yard debris too big for trash containers.
· On occasion, there are front end loaders and operate a forklift if necessary.
· Returns all equipment to the designated location at the parks facility and cleans the facility up as well.
· Checks storm drains for debris and removes it. Cleans up any city owned flower beds, water trees, flowers and shrubbery if needed.
· Assists in project work as needed for the Parks department.
· Weed eat and use a blower for city properties and clean up and maintain park playgrounds.
· Can assist with other experience workers in carpentry, painting and general maintenance work.
· Performs activities requiring lifting and carrying and hauling, using rakes, shovels and cements bags.
· Regular lifting, carrying, and handling of materials typically ranging from 20 to 50 pounds
· Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and work in a warehouse and yard environments
· Will abide by all safety regulations and requirements for this position.
· Performs other duties as assigned by the Parks supervisor.
Qualifications and Skills
· High School diploma or equivalent required
· Knowledge of methods and materials used in grounds and landscape area construction and maintenance work is a plus.
· Working knowledge of and ability to use hand and power tools and equipment is a must.
· Ability to follow oral and written directions.
· Must be able to pass a drug screen and a background check.
· Ability to communicate effectively with parks staff and supervisors.
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to follow established procedures while applying practical judgement within assigned responsibilities.
· Valid Oklahoma driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to the City’s insurance carrier.
· May be required to extended hours as operational needs dictate
· Be able to work 90% of time outdoors. May be exposed to various wildlife, poison ivy and oak.
Familiar with the operation and maintenance of small engines is a plus.
Physical and Mental Requirements
· Requires the ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time out of doors with breaks.
Summary
Full Time Seasonal - Parks/Reservoir
Wednesday through Sunday 11am-8pm
1 hour lunch break
