Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Operates mowers and weed eaters; trims greens, aprons, tees and around trees, rakes and maintains sand bunkers.
· Sets tee markers and cups on the greens daily; sands and seeds tee and drop area divots; cleans out flower beds and landscaping around clubhouse.
· Maintains fuel and fluid levels for all types of equipment on a daily basis; reports equipment problems or failures to the golf course superintendent.
· Returns all equipment to the designated location at the maintenance facility and cleans the facility up as well.
· Under the direction of the golf course superintendent, the grounds keeper marks the course for cart control barriers and replaces worn or lost ropes and signs.
· Assists in project work and in the construction of new greens and fairways.
· Installs forms and lays walks and paths using gravel and asphalt mixes; repairs and replaces pipe on irrigation systems.
· Must be able to operate tractors, dump trucks or other light equipment.
· Will abide by all safety regulations and requirements for this position.
· Performs other duties as assigned by the superintendent.
Qualifications and Skills
· High School diploma or equivalent required
· Knowledge of methods and materials used in grounds and landscape area construction and maintenance work.
· Working knowledge of and ability to use hand and power tools and equipment.
· Ability to follow oral and written directions.
· Must be able to pass a drug screen and a background check.
· Ability to communicate effectively with golf staff, and the public
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to follow established procedures while applying practical judgement within assigned responsibilities.
· Valid Oklahoma driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to the City’s insurance carrier.
· Regular lifting, carrying, and handling of materials typically ranging from 20 to 50 pounds
· Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and work in a warehouse and yard environments
· May be required to extended hours as operational needs dictate
· Be able to work 90% of time outdoors. Can be exposed to various wildlife, poison ivy and oak.

Summary
This position assists in the everyday operations of the golf course, maintenance and grounds keeping. This position requires the ability to work under the supervision and direction of the golf course superintendent and may require helping in the clubhouse on occasion. This position will require point of sales experience and appropriate computer skills. This position also requires the use of a wide variety of equipment that includes tractors, weed eaters, trenchers, backhoes, dump trucks, golf carts and any other specialty equipment. This position must work with mechanics for oil changes, lubes, reel maintenance, engine repair and all other required maintenance. This position will work with the team to help with special events on the course. This position is seasonal and the position will end in the fall.
