About the role

We're invested in your future. Our interns and rotational program analysts are part of City National from day one. You'll get competitive wages, the experience you need to launch your career — owning projects and collaborating with your new colleagues — and the support to grow as a valued member of our team. SUMMER INTERNSHIPS The opportunity to learn from senior executives sets our internships apart — and sets up our interns for success. You can also expect real responsibility, projects tailored to your strengths and interests, and mentorship to guide you through the summer and beyond. Who Should Apply: Current college juniors. We recruit for diverse backgrounds, lived experiences, talent and perspectives. DACA recipients are eligible. Credit Internship Gain exposure to all aspects of credit underwriting while working on active deals. Engage with business leaders and maintain client relationships. Create and update valuations. Analyze financial statements and industry performance to contribute to lending recommendations. Operations & Servicing Internship Acquire hands-on experience managing financial transactions, working closely with operations or client servicing teams. Provide trading and service support for a variety of operations-based functions. Review processes and propose recommendations for improvement, with a focus on risk and controls. Collaborate with colleagues on key projects. BANKING ANALYST PROGRAM With multiple career paths in banking available, how do you know which one is right for you? The exceptional candidates selected for our Banking Analyst Program gain experience across a range of career tracks during an immersive, two-year rotational program. It's an accelerated opportunity to hone your talents and channel your passions. Banking Analysts can expect to interact with clients, perform credit and risk analysis, analyze financial statements and cash flow, and learn the finer points of a successful client-focused culture. The program is designed to prepare you for potential placement opportunities as a Relationship Manager, Credit Officer, Treasury Management Officer or a role in Capital Markets — and to flourish as a future leader at the bank. Who should apply: Current college seniors and recent graduates. Successful candidates bring with them curiosity and an eagerness to learn. DACA recipients are eligible. What It Offers The Banking Analyst Program offers competitive pay, full benefits and the possibility of an annual bonus. It also provides access to City National's executives, mentorship and professional development. It is a career launch pad for rising stars and a vital talent pipeline for the bank. How It Works The program's structure — four rotations, each lasting six months, based in Los Angeles — gives Banking Analysts in-depth exposure across multiple lines of City National's business. Along the way, Banking Analysts work and train together, and get formal feedback from senior managers to help them grow into well-rounded and high-performing City National colleagues. Months 1-6: Together as one cohort, Banking Analysts complete a rigorous curriculum (in accounting, projections/modeling and overall corporate finance) and on-the-job training in Commercial Banking. Months 6-24: Banking Analysts rotate through divisions such as Commercial Banking, Capital Markets, National Corporate Banking, Business Banking and Treasury Management. LEADERSHIP & EXCELLENCE ANALYST PROGRAM (LEAP) Your potential is just as important to us as your experience. Our Leadership & Excellence Analyst Program (LEAP) develops diverse, entry-level, future leaders through mentorship, hands-on experience, and exposure to a wide range of the bank's client servicing and operations functions. You bring grit, determination and coachability, and we'll provide the technical training and professional skills to help you kickstart your career in City National's largest division. LEAPers gain insight into the services and operations that make up the nerve center of the bank and allow money to move safely and swiftly — such as detecting real-time fraud, processing payments across electronic platforms, and onboarding and servicing accounts. That experience, along with instruction in executive presence and developing a management style, is designed to shape LEAPers into leaders. Who should apply: Problem-solvers and proven leaders. Recent graduates (1-2 years out) and seniors graduating in May or June of 2026. Students and graduates from HBCUs and Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HS), are encouraged to apply. What It Offers LEAP offers competitive pay, employee benefits and the possibility of an annual bonus. It also provides one-on-one access to senior leaders, formal mentorship and professional development. LEAP is a recognized source of rising talent and a springboard to a successful career at City National. How It Works LEAP is an 18-month program with three rotations, each lasting six months, and based in either Los Angeles, Phoenix or Newark, Del. Analysts get full immersion in our Banking & Investment Services division. You'll start with the fundamentals, then take on an increasing amount of project-based work. Successfully completing the program will make you a strong candidate for a future role.
