Make an impact in the community by joining the Stormwater Team. The Stormwater Division is responsible for managing and improving our local water resources as we work to reduce pollution, prevent flooding, and ensure clean waterways.

The Sweeping and Drainage team is looking to hire a Streets Technician II to conduct  skilled work in the maintenance of the City and County of Broomfield’s streets, focusing on street sweeping and supporting drainage system maintenance.

Total Compensation Package

Hiring Range: $26.97 – $32.97 per hour

Free Recreation Center Pass (Gym & Pool)

112 hours paid vacation + 80 hours sick leave+ 12 paid holidays per year

Stable year-round employment with a 40 hour/week set schedule and periodic paid on-call duty

Position Duties

  • Clean and maintain shop building and grounds

  • Assists in the operation of snowplows during inclement weather

  • Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards

  • Uses hand tools to complete maintenance work

  • May assume responsibility for division activities during the absence of a Technician III or Foreman

  • May work as a field crew leader

  • Performs maintenance activities with little supervision

  • Operates construction and maintenance equipment used in the department

  • Acts as a troubleshooter to resolve problems within a particular area of assignment

  • Operates and performs preventive maintenance on equipment

  • Operate a Street sweeper.

  • Retrieves, completes, and documents work orders using computer-based systems while maintaining accurate records of maintenance, inspections, and related stormwater data.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  •  High School Diploma or equivalent -required

Experience

  • 2 years of experience in any of the Streets Maintenances operational areas (including road and bridge maintenance, sweeping and drainage, and/or traffic control)

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be at least 18 years of age. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and safe driving record for continued employment. New hires must, as a condition of employment, pass the following pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes: in-person or virtual interviews, reference checks, background checks including local police check and sex-offender registry, DMV check, and pre-placement physical and drug screen.

Certifications required with 6 months of hire

  • Class B Commercial Driver’s License with air brake and tanker endorsement

  • Flagger’s Certification

Other Qualifications

  • Work involves on-call duty which requires working weekends on a rotating basis and working all hours during emergency repairs as needed

  • Work is generally scheduled Monday through Friday with some weekend and holiday work required

  • Required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.

  • Required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl

  • Required to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects

  • Required to talk or hear; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; bend or twist from the upper body; use hands and/or feet to perform manual tasks such as digging; push or pull; reach with hands and arms; squat; stoop; crouch; and climb or balance

  • Physical demands are described as Very Heavy Work (Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50  pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects)

  • Requires walking or standing to a significant degree

  • Work near moving mechanical parts

  • Work in year-round outdoor weather conditions

  • Use hand tools to complete maintenance work
