The Data CoE is a group-level function responsible for supporting our data platforms and products across five markets. As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading 4-6 teams of data engineers and software engineers. You will also be responsible for planning and implementing highly available, performant, scalable, and maintainable solutions responsible for collecting, storing, and processing data at organization **Responsibilities** * Be responsible for Data CoE roadmap and execution from concept to delivery. * Provide technical leadership for your teams and major projects, build, and lead high-performance data engineering teams. * Together with your team architect and design technically robust, extensible, and scalable solutions. * Engage and partner with other teams and product owners to co-develop products and solutions. * Be responsible for enforcing best practices, set up guidelines, processes for the data engineering teams to help them build a world-class data platform. * Demonstrate expertise in data ops patterns, with a passion for encouraging the development of clean and reusable solutions. * Coordinate the design and implementation of infrastructure necessary to support the data needs. * Review guidelines and processes for data engineers to ensure consistent architecture across organization. * Encourage experimentation with innovative technologies to improve the way we handle our data. * Maintain elaborate documentation to ensure continuity. * Collaborating with other talented engineers spread across a multitude of tech teams in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, India, Vietnam, and Indonesia. * Give engineers the tools, confidence, and motivation to make decisions independently that lead to the recognition of your engineers and not just yourself. * Evaluate the performance of your teams regularly and share and seek feedback. * Set up best practices for data management and overlook its adoption. * Take ownership of governance and compliance efforts for Data CoE. **Requirements** * At least 6 years of experience in data engineering of which minimum of 3 years in people management, or a similar role. * Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, unstructured environment. We do have a lot of open-ended challenges to solve with multiple options to choose from as a solution. * Strong decision-making skills, metric-driven operations, and the ability to motivate and maximize productivity. * Familiarity with architectural and software design patterns. * Familiarity with modern data engineering technologies and practices. * Familiarity with both relational and non-relational databases and best practices for modeling for these. * Experience building integration projects that may involve enterprise systems (ex., Salesforce), social platforms (ex. Facebook, Google Ads), marketing platforms (ex., Braze) would be a plus. * Experience in supporting 3rd Party platforms such as CRM, Customer Engagement, or Customer Data Platform with marketing tech experience will be a big plus. * In-depth knowledge of Python, ElasticSearch, bash, etc. * Good exposure to Big Query, Airflow, and other big data technologies. * Experience in running applications using Serverless Framework (AWS Lambda) or Docker. * Familiarity with cloud environments such as GCP and/or AWS and container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes. * Exposure to tools like Jenkins or Buildkite is a plus. * Excellent communication skills and ability to speak both to technical and non-technical people. * Ability to work with various stakeholders. * Self-motivated and fast learner. * As an Engineering Manager, you must be detail-oriented and a wonderful team player. * Sense of humor help with managing teams and improving communication so it is always good to have it with you. **About the company:** *Young, fun and original, It is the Middle East's number one online fashion destination.
