Job Title: Substitute - Part-Time Bus Driver

Duties & Responsibilities:
● Obey all traffic laws.
● Observes all other mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
● Maintains discipline of students on the bus.
● Observes District Procedures for reporting students with discipline problems.
● Reports students with discipline problems to the proper authority.
● Keep the assigned bus clean.
● Keeps to an assigned schedule and routing.
● Performs daily school bus pre-trip inspections and properly completes pre-trip and post-trip inspection forms as
mandated by law.
● Check the bus before each operation for mechanical defects.
● Notifies the proper authority in writing of mechanical failure or discrepancies.
● Discharges students only at authorized stops.
● Exercises responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips.
● Transports only authorized students.
● Sweeps assigned bus on the days the bus is scheduled for washing.
● Reports all accidents and completes required reports.
● Enforces regulations against smoking and eating on the bus.
● Assists in maintaining a safe and efficient terminal by doing such things as, but not limited to assuring busses are
parked and moved in such a manner as to provide the greatest safety and efficient vehicle movement for other
drivers and Service Center personnel as possible.
● Maintains an appropriate gas fill-up schedule to assure maximum vehicle movement efficiency.
● Demonstrates behavior and interactions that serve as an appropriate role model for students at all times.
● Responsible for complying with all deadlines regarding permits or license renewal.
● Rides as bus aide when needed.
● Assists Dispatchers with other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: As assigned by the Transportation Manager and Director of Transportation Services.

Working Environment: Operates a school bus to safely transport students along scheduled routes, navigating varying
traffic and weather conditions while maintaining positive interactions with students, parents, and school staff.
Physical requirements: Regularly sit, stand, and walk during driving and routine duties. Frequently use hands and arms
for steering, controls, and handling equipment. Occasionally lift, carry, or move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to bend,
stoop, reach, twist, and stretch as needed. Hear and communicate clearly with passengers, coworkers, and dispatch. Visual
acuity required for driving, reading gauges, maps, and signs. Maintain concentration and respond quickly to traffic and
passenger safety needs.
Terms of Employment:
Hours: 1 Hour Before / After the School Day (Elementary 8:30am -3:30pm / Unity 7:45am-2:45pm)
Work Year: 10 Months (School Year) - As Needed or Scheduled
Compensation: $27.84
