About the role

About us: Chorus One is the largest cryptocurrency staking provider in Europe, operating nodes on over 50 networks. Our infrastructure presently supports around $3,5bn in delegations. We operate a leading research department; next to regular and popular updates (e.g. our "Quarterly Insights"), we deliver deep technical research on topics such as MEV, staking derivatives, and emerging networks. Recent examples includes: Timing games & the cost of artificial latency: https://chorus.one/reports-research/the-cost-of-artificial-latency-in-the-pbs-context MEV mitigation on dYdX v4: https://chorus.one/reports-research/mev-on-the-dydx-v4-chain SIMD-228: Market Based Emission Mechanism: https://chorus.one/reports-research/an-analysis-of-simd-228 Is the Speed of Light Too Slow: https://chorus.one/reports-research/is-the-speed-of-light-too-slow Position Overview: We are seeking a Quantitative Researcher to join our fully remote team, work closely with the Quantitative Lead, and contribute to projects including the optimization of our validator operations on diverse networks, and deep research. This is an exciting chance to work with and learn from a small, exceptional team with an established footprint in the staking space. Responsibilities: Network Performance Analysis: Conduct in-depth, data-driven analysis of leading blockchain networks (Solana, Ethereum, Berachain, and TON) to uncover protocol trends, validator performance metrics, and network-level behaviors. Validator Benchmarking: Develop and maintain comparative models to assess Chorus One's validator performance relative to peers, identifying areas for improvement and validating performance claims with robust data. EVM & SOL-Specific Deep Dives: Drive focused research on EVM-compatible chains and Solana, with fluency in querying data, detecting patterns, and interpreting technical mechanisms unique to each ecosystem. Collaborative Insight Generation: Partner with product, BD, and engineering teams to translate complex research into actionable insights, dashboards, and narratives that differentiate Chorus One in a competitive validator landscape. Job requirements What we are looking for: Analytically Rigorous: Holds a strong academic or research background (preferably PhD-level) with a deep understanding of data analysis, statistics, and hypothesis-driven research. Crypto-Native Curiosity: Has a solid grasp of blockchain fundamentals and a genuine passion for the crypto ecosystem, especially staking, validator dynamics, and protocol design. Hands-On Data Explorer: Skilled at sourcing and analyzing on-chain data, and eager to contribute to public research outputs such as dashboards, blog posts, or whitepapers that elevate Chorus One's industry presence. Optimization-Driven Thinker: Enthusiastic about staking reward optimization and performance tuning within protocol constraints, always looking for ways to maximize outcomes for delegators and operators. Code-Comfortable, Logic-First: Able to read and understand blockchain protocol implementations and validator logic. While not necessarily a developer, the candidate should have strong reasoning and algorithmic thinking skills. Tool-Proficient: Experience with blockchain data platforms like Dune, Flipside, or equivalent tools to query, clean, and model complex datasets.
