In 2014, SAIF Partners wrote the first cheque into a small startup called UrbanClap.
Nobody called it obvious then.

Urban Company organised the supply side. Nobody has built the P2P layer yet.
Not one platform lets a student, a freelancer, or a first-time earner post their skill and get matched to a real task in their own neighbourhood, in under 10 minutes.

Now we need a CTO to build the engine.
THE ROLE
This is not a "head of engineering" job with a comfortable seat behind a wall of managers.
You will write code.
You will ship the architecture.
You will sit next to the founder.
You will own the technical destiny of SAYZO.
You'll inherit a working backend, real users, and a team that's already shipping. You'll lead it from here to a million tasks a month.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
→ Architecture of the entire SAYZO platform. Backend, AI layer, infra, everything that touches code.
→ Our Go backend. API services (Gin, pgx, sqlc) and the typed worker fleet handling matching, moderation, notifications, and the AI agent layer.
→ The event-driven core. Transactional outbox pipeline, asynq task queues, idempotent worker processors.
→ Geospatial matching at scale on PostgreSQL + PostGIS. Query performance, indexing strategy, and the engine that decides who gets matched to what, where, in seconds.
→ The AI layer. LLM orchestration, moderation, acceptance prediction models, and the agentic features that make SAYZO feel magical to a 19-year-old gig worker in Indore.
→ Reliability. OpenTelemetry tracing, Prometheus metrics, circuit breakers, retries, graceful degradation. The system stays up when the load comes.
→ SQL-first schema design with goose migrations and online backfill strategies.
→ Hiring, mentoring, code reviews, engineering culture. The kind of bar that makes great engineers want to join.
WHO YOU ARE
→ 10+ years building backend systems in production. You've been the senior voice in rooms where the wrong decision costs millions.
→ Deep, hands-on Go experience. You don't just know the language. You know what breaks at 3 AM and how to design around it.
→ PostgreSQL fluent. Schema design, query optimisation, transactions. PostGIS is a serious plus.
→ Distributed systems instincts. Queues, event-driven architecture, idempotency, eventual consistency. You think in failure modes.
→ Comfortable across the modern infra stack. Redis/Valkey, Docker, containerized deployments, OpenTelemetry.
→ An entrepreneur's mind. You're not looking for a job. You're looking for a story to bet the next decade of your life on.
→ Based in Bangalore. Willing to work offline with us, in the same room, every day. This is not a remote role.
Bonus: experience with sqlc, asynq, LLM or AI integrations, or marketplace and matching systems.
