The flagship product, a cooling neckband, offers fast and silent cooling, catering especially to outdoor workers, riders, and anyone affected by rising temperatures. With a focus on enhancing everyday comfort, Irotho aims to provide practical and effective solutions for combating heat stress.
Role Description
This is a full-time hybrid role for a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) based in India (Bangalore/Delhi preferred), with flexibility for some remote work. The CTO will lead the company’s end-to-end hardware and technology strategy, oversee product development, and ensure alignment between engineering execution and business goals. They will be responsible for designing and optimizing thermoelectric cooling systems, managing electronics and embedded systems development, and driving innovation in wearable climate technology.
The CTO will also oversee prototyping, testing, and transition to scalable manufacturing, including supplier sourcing, BOM optimization, and production readiness. They will lead technical teams, define system architectures across thermal, mechanical, and electronic components, and implement engineering strategies to build a reliable, efficient, and commercially viable product. Additionally, they will ensure product safety, performance, and compliance while continuously improving system efficiency, battery optimization, and user experience to support the company’s vision of scalable climate adaptation solutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related field
- Strong understanding of thermal engineering and heat transfer, including conduction, convection, and heat dissipation systems
- Hands-on experience with thermoelectric (Peltier) systems, including efficiency optimization, heat rejection, and system balancing
- Deep expertise in electronics and embedded systems, including:
- Microcontrollers (Arduino, ESP32, STM32)
- Sensor integration (temperature, humidity, airflow)
- Circuit design and debugging
- Strong knowledge of power electronics, including:
- DC-DC converters (boost, buck, buck-boost)
- Voltage/current regulation and efficiency optimization
- Battery Charging Systems(CC/CV)
- Practical experience with control systems and switching architectures, including:
- PWM-based control of loads (e.g., Peltier modules)
- H-bridge design and implementation for polarity reversal
- MOSFET-based switching and current control
- Experience in firmware development and control logic, including:
- Thermal control algorithms (PID or equivalent)
- Duty cycle optimization for performance vs efficiency
- Power management strategies
- Strong understanding of airflow and cooling system design, including:
- Fan/blower selection (optimizationure vs airflow)
- Air ducting and channel design
- Noise and efficiency optimization
- Demonstrated experience in hardware prototyping and testing, including:
- Rapid prototyping and iteration
- Building and validating test setups (temperature, efficiency, runtime)
- Debugging integrated hardware systems
- Experience with PCB design and system integration, including transitioning from breadboard to production-ready boards
- Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Testing (DFT)
- Experience with BOM optimization, cost reduction, and supplier sourcing (India/China manufacturing ecosystem preferred)
- Familiarity with product safety, compliance, and certifications (BIS, CE, FCC, battery safety standards)
- Ability to think in system-level architecture, integrating thermal, electrical, and mechanical components into a cohesive product
