We are a leading EdTech company with a 22-year legacy and 150+ successful customers in Central India. We are looking for a transformational technology leader to evolve our successful legacy ERP into a scalable, cloud-native SaaS platform. The CTO will bridge the gap between our established .NET foundation and modern web technologies, enabling our next phase of growth across India and international markets.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Technology Transformation & Architecture (The "Builder" Role)
(a) Legacy Modernisation: Lead the strategic migration from legacy .NET & SQL architectures to a modern, cloud-based microservices environment without disrupting daily operations.
(b) Modular Design: Re-architect the product into independent modules to support tiered subscription models and feature-gating.
(c) Hands-on Leadership: While not a primary coder, you must be capable of deep code reviews, schema design, and establishing "Clean Code" standards. You will audit the current codebase for security and scalability bottlenecks.
2. Engineering Culture & Team Management (The "Mentor" Role)
(a) Operational Delivery & Workflow: Take full ownership of the software delivery lifecycle (SDLC). Manage daily work distribution and resource allocation using Agile/Scrum methodologies to ensure balanced workloads and predictable delivery timelines.
(b) Delivery Review & Accountability: Institute a rigorous review process for all deliverables. You are the final gatekeeper for quality—ensuring that code logic, performance, and security standards are met before any feature is deployed to the customer.
(c) Team Evolution: Assess the current technical team’s capabilities. Create up-skilling paths for existing loyal staff while recruiting high-pedigree talent for specialised roles (UI/UX, AI/ML, DevOps).
(d) Process Excellence: Implement industry-standard Agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines (Automated Testing/Deployment), and strict documentation protocols to eliminate "person-dependency."
3. Strategic Product Alignment (The "Business Partner" Role)
(a) Commercial Mindset: Align the technology roadmap with business goals (e.g., "How does this feature increase revenue?"). Differentiate clearly between "Customer Support/Bug Fixes" and "New Feature Development."
(b) Innovation: Introduce high-value capabilities such as AI-driven analytics, mobile-first interfaces for parents, and automated student success tracking.
Candidate Profile (The "Must Haves"):
Experience: 10+ years in software development, with at least 3+ years in a leadership role managing teams of 50+.
Tech Stack: Proven expertise in Microsoft Stack (.NET/SQL) and Modern Stacks (Python/Node.js/React/PostgreSQL/NoSQL). You must speak both "Old" and "New" languages.
Track Record: Demonstrated success in modernising a legacy product (Monolith to Microservices) or scaling a B2B SaaS product.
Communication: Fluent in Hindi and English. Ability to explain complex technical risks to non-technical stakeholders.
