About the Role
We are seeking a visionary and technically accomplished Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead technology strategy, innovation, and engineering transformation within the Electrical Power and High-Voltage Manufacturing sector.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the CTO will drive the organization’s technical roadmap across R&D, product engineering, smart technologies, manufacturing modernization, and quality excellence. This role requires a unique blend of deep electromechanical design expertise and digital transformation leadership to shape next-generation transformer technologies and future-ready manufacturing capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Vision & Strategic Leadership
- Define and lead the long-term technology and innovation roadmap aligned with organizational growth objectives.
- Drive engineering transformation initiatives focused on product innovation, digitalization, automation, and operational excellence.
- Partner with executive leadership to strengthen market competitiveness, product differentiation, and technology leadership.
- Build a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and technical excellence across the organization.
Product Innovation & R&D Strategy
- Lead research, design, and development of advanced High Voltage (HV) and Extra High Voltage (EHV) transformer solutions.
- Drive development of next-generation transformer technologies focused on thermal efficiency, low-loss performance, reliability, and sustainability.
- Develop smart transformer capabilities through integration of IoT sensors, diagnostics, smart monitoring systems, and predictive maintenance technologies.
- Spearhead innovation initiatives for renewable energy applications including solar, wind, and grid modernization infrastructure.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to maintain technological leadership in the power infrastructure domain.
Engineering & Product Design Excellence
- Oversee electromechanical design, insulation coordination, electromagnetic field analysis, and advanced transformer engineering activities.
- Utilize advanced engineering tools including 3D modeling, simulation platforms, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for design optimization and material efficiency.
- Ensure robust product lifecycle management from concept design through manufacturing, testing, and deployment.
- Drive standardization, reliability engineering, and continuous product enhancement initiatives.
Manufacturing Transformation & Industry 4.0
- Lead digital transformation and Industry 4.0 initiatives across manufacturing operations.
- Implement automation, smart manufacturing systems, and process optimization frameworks to improve production efficiency and scalability.
- Drive initiatives to increase MVA production capacity, reduce lead times, and optimize operational costs.
- Collaborate with operations and manufacturing teams to enhance engineering-to-production integration.
Quality, Compliance & Testing Excellence
- Ensure adherence to global quality standards, regulatory frameworks, and technical compliance requirements.
- Oversee NABL-accredited testing laboratories and ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and related standards.
- Establish rigorous quality assurance, reliability testing, and product validation frameworks.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across engineering quality and testing processes.
Stakeholder & Business Leadership
- Engage with customers, utilities, EPC partners, consultants, and regulatory authorities on strategic technical matters.
- Support business development and commercial teams with technical positioning, product strategy, and customer engagement.
- Lead technical reviews, project governance, and strategic decision-making for critical infrastructure projects.
- Represent the organization at industry forums, technical committees, and global technology platforms.
Team Leadership & Capability Building
- Build, mentor, and lead high-performing engineering, R&D, and quality teams.
- Strengthen organizational technical capabilities through leadership development, succession planning, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Foster collaboration across engineering, manufacturing, operations, and commercial functions.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, preferably with specialization in High Voltage Engineering or Power Systems.
- 20+ years of experience in the Electrical Power Industry with at least 8 years in senior technical leadership roles such as Head of R&D, Technical Director, or CTO.
- Deep expertise in transformer design, high-voltage systems, insulation coordination, and electromagnetic field analysis.
- Strong experience with transformer design software, advanced simulation tools, and engineering optimization platforms.
- Proven leadership in R&D, digital transformation, Industry 4.0, and smart manufacturing initiatives.
- Strong understanding of NABL standards, ISO frameworks, quality assurance systems, and compliance requirements.
- Experience driving innovation for renewable energy integration and smart grid infrastructure preferred.
- Exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and stakeholder management capabilities.
