Job Title: Chief Operating Officer (COO) – Animal Welfare
Location: Mulund, Mumbai
Travel: Pan-India travel required
Sector Preference: Development / NGO sector experience preferred
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and mission-driven Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead operational strategy and execution for our Animal Welfare vertical. The COO will be responsible for managing the overall operations, financial performance, and program delivery of the vertical, ensuring sustainability, impact, and operational excellence.
This role requires a strong leader who can balance program impact with financial discipline, including managing Profit & Loss (P&L) for the vertical while scaling animal welfare initiatives across India.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with the organization’s mission in animal welfare.
Work closely with the leadership team to scale programs, partnerships, and impact across India.
Identify opportunities for growth, operational efficiency, and program expansion.
Operational Management
Oversee day-to-day operations of the Animal Welfare vertical.
Ensure efficient execution of animal rescue, rehabilitation, welfare programs, and related initiatives.
Implement systems, SOPs, and operational processes for scalable impact.
Financial Management
Manage Profit & Loss (P&L) for the vertical, ensuring financial sustainability.
Monitor budgets, cost optimization, and revenue streams (grants, partnerships, donations, programs).
Drive financial planning and performance monitoring.
Team Leadership
Lead, mentor, and manage cross-functional teams across multiple locations.
Build a high-performance culture aligned with the organization’s mission.
Strengthen leadership capacity across operational teams.
Partnerships & Stakeholder Management
Build partnerships with government agencies, NGOs, donors, and corporate partners.
Represent the organization at national forums, conferences, and stakeholder meetings.
Compliance & Governance
Ensure compliance with statutory regulations applicable to NGOs and animal welfare programs.
Maintain operational transparency, reporting systems, and impact measurement frameworks.
Candidate Profile
Experience: 10–20 years of leadership experience in operations, preferably in NGOs, development sector, social enterprises, or mission-driven organizations.
Proven experience in managing Profit & Loss (P&L) for a business unit, program, or vertical.
Strong operational and financial management capabilities.
Experience in scaling programs or operations across multiple locations.
Prior exposure to animal welfare, environmental, or social impact sectors will be an advantage.
Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and strategic thinking skills.
Education
- Master’s degree in Management / Public Policy / Social Work / Development Studies / Business Administration preferred.
