Role Overview
We are looking for a high-caliber Chief of Staff – People & Culture to partner closely with a senior People leader who holds two critical mandates: leading Talent Development for the company globally and leading the HR Business Partner function for a key business unit.
The Chief of Staff will operate at the intersection of talent, organization, leadership and business strategy, helping translate priorities into action and ensuring that the highest-impact people initiatives move forward with pace, rigor and alignment.
This is not a traditional coordination or administrative role. The Chief of Staff will act as a strategic thought partner, integrator and execution leader—bringing structure to complex problems, connecting priorities across teams, preparing critical decisions, and independently driving selected strategic initiatives.
The role offers unusually broad exposure to enterprise talent strategy, business leadership, organization design, workforce planning and the operating mechanics of a global People function.
What You Will Own
1. Strategic Leverage & Prioritization
Partner with the People leader to translate the Talent Development and HRBP agendas into a clear set of priorities and outcomes.
- Create visibility across priorities, commitments, dependencies and risks.
- Ensure leadership attention is focused on the highest-value issues.
- Structure ambiguous problems and develop recommendations for decision-making.
- Drive follow-through on key decisions and commitments.
- Identify issues early and proactively unblock progress.
2. Talent Development Strategy & Execution
Support the development and execution of the company's enterprise talent agenda.
This could include priorities such as:
- Leadership development and manager capability
- Top talent identification and development
- Succession and leadership pipeline
- Career and growth frameworks
- Talent density and capability building
- Performance and development interventions
- Emerging talent and strategic talent programs
Partner with Talent, HRBPs and business leaders to ensure programs move beyond design to deliver measurable business and talent outcomes.
3. Business Unit People Strategy
Support the HRBP leadership agenda for the business unit, working across HRBPs, business leaders and People COEs.
Key areas may include:
- Workforce and talent planning
- Organization design and effectiveness
- Leadership and succession discussions
- Critical talent and retention
- Performance and talent reviews
- Organizational health
- Leadership team effectiveness
- Strategic people interventions arising from business priorities
Bring together insights across these areas to help identify patterns, risks and opportunities requiring leadership attention.
4. Lead Strategic People Projects
Personally own a select portfolio of high-impact initiatives from problem definition through implementation.
Examples could include:
- Organization effectiveness reviews
- Leadership capability initiatives
- Talent architecture and career frameworks
- Strategic workforce planning
- AI and future-skills initiatives
- Top-talent interventions
- New organizational or operating models
- Cross-functional People transformation projects
For these initiatives, the Chief of Staff will be expected to lead the work, not simply track it.
5. Run the Operating Rhythm
Build the management system that allows two large portfolios to operate effectively.
Establish strong operating rhythms across Talent Development and the BU HRBP organization, including priority reviews, talent discussions, leadership forums and strategic planning cycles.
Ensure meetings lead to decisions, decisions lead to ownership, and ownership leads to execution.
Create concise dashboards and leadership updates that surface outcomes, insights, risks and decisions required, rather than simply reporting activity.
6. Executive & Leadership Effectiveness
Enable high-quality engagement with senior business and People leaders.
- Prepare strategic briefs and decision materials.
- Synthesize complex information into clear recommendations.
- Connect discussions happening across different leadership forums.
- Ensure critical issues receive the right level of attention.
- Represent the leader in selected working forums and drive actions on their behalf.
Over time, become a trusted point of connection across HRBPs, COEs and business leadership.
What Success Looks Like
Within the first 12 months:
Greater leadership leverage: The Talent Development and BU People agendas operate with greater clarity, prioritization and execution discipline.
Faster execution: Strategic initiatives move from discussion to decision to implementation more quickly.
Better integration: Talent Development, HRBP priorities and broader People initiatives are increasingly connected rather than operating as separate workstreams.
Stronger insights: Leadership has clearer visibility into organizational, talent and capability risks and can act earlier.
Independent ownership: The Chief of Staff is trusted to independently lead significant People initiatives and represent the leader in important forums.
What We Are Looking For
- Approximately 8–12+ years of experience across HRBP, Talent Management, Organization Development, People Strategy, HR consulting or related areas.
- Strong understanding of how business strategy translates into organization and talent priorities.
- Ability to operate comfortably with senior executives and People leaders.
- Exceptional ability to bring structure to ambiguous and complex problems.
- Strong analytical thinking and ability to move from data to insight to recommendation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong program leadership with a bias toward execution.
- Ability to influence across functions and geographies without relying on formal authority.
- High judgment, discretion and comfort handling sensitive organizational and talent matters.
- Comfortable switching between strategic thinking and hands-on execution
