About Humble Bee
Humble Bee is building India's beekeeping ecosystem from the ground up. We work with women beekeepers, farmers, forest communities, researchers, governments, and businesses to create sustainable livelihoods while strengthening pollination, biodiversity, climate resilience, and agriculture. In 3 years, we have grown to a team of 119 people working across multiple states. We believe the opportunities ahead are far larger than what any one individual can accomplish, and we are building the team that can help realize that vision.
Job Title: Chief of Staff to the CEO
About the Role: This is not a conventional Chief of Staff role. You won't spend your days managing calendars or sitting in meetings taking notes.
You'll work directly with the CEO to help turn ideas into execution, bring structure to complexity, and ensure that important initiatives move forward.
Some days you'll be preparing for an important board or government meeting. Other days you'll be building dashboards, documenting SOPs, designing OKRs, creating AI-powered workflows, unblocking operational bottlenecks, following through on strategic partnerships, or helping solve problems that nobody has solved before. The work ranges from highly strategic to highly operational.
If you enjoy ambiguity, ownership, building systems, and making organizations work better every week, you'll likely enjoy this role.
What you will do:
- Act as a thought partner to the CEO and founding team.
- Convert discussions into clear action plans, ownership, and follow-through.
- Build systems, SOPs, dashboards, and operating rhythms that help Humble Bee scale.
- Use AI and automation to eliminate repetitive work and improve organizational efficiency.
- Coordinate strategic initiatives across programs, operations, research, technology, and partnerships.
- Prepare briefs, presentations, and decision notes for leadership meetings.
- Identify bottlenecks before they become problems.
- Improve information flow across the organization.
- Ensure commitments are tracked and completed.
- Constantly look for ways to make Humble Bee operate better.
You'll probably thrive if you:
- Learn quickly across unfamiliar domains.
- Enjoy solving messy problems with incomplete information.
- Are highly resourceful and self-directed.
- Build systems instead of relying on memory.
- Communicate exceptionally well, both verbally and in writing.
- Are comfortable challenging ideas respectfully.
- Love taking ownership.
- Get satisfaction from making other people more effective.
- Are excited by AI tools, automation, and operational excellence.
You'll probably not enjoy this role if you:
- Need detailed instructions before getting started.
- Prefer predictable, narrowly defined responsibilities.
- Become frustrated when priorities change.
- Want every answer before taking action.
- Are looking for a conventional Executive Assistant role.
We care more about how you think than your credentials. You might come from consulting, startups, product, operations, venture capital, research, public policy, entrepreneurship, or something entirely different. What matters is that you can think clearly, learn quickly, communicate exceptionally well, and consistently get things done. Experience building systems, documenting processes, using AI tools, or leading complex cross-functional initiatives will be a strong advantage. This role is about multiplying Humble Bee's capacity to do more and do fast.
