Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) based in Chandigarh, India. The CNO will lead and oversee all nursing operations at the institute, ensuring high standards of patient care and compliance with regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include:
- Operation Theatre (OT) Management & Supervision: Oversee the functioning of all Operation Theatres, ensuring adherence to surgical protocols, OT discipline, aseptic techniques, equipment readiness, and coordination with surgeons and anesthesia teams for smooth surgical operations.
- Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) Compliance: Monitor and enforce infection control practices across clinical and surgical areas, including hand hygiene compliance, sterilization processes, biomedical waste management, surveillance audits, and implementation of NABH/JCI infection control standards.
- Nursing Manpower Planning & Staff Rostering: Prepare and supervise nursing duty rosters, leave management, shift allocations, and manpower utilization to ensure adequate staffing coverage for OPD, wards, OT, and emergency services while maintaining operational efficiency.
- Patient Care Quality & Nursing Services Oversight: Ensure delivery of safe, compassionate, and patient-centric nursing care by monitoring patient assessments, medication administration, counselling, documentation, patient feedback, and coordination of continuity of care across departments.
- Nursing Training & Skill Development: Lead competency enhancement initiatives for nursing staff through induction programs, clinical skill training, OT protocols, infection control education, emergency response drills, and continuous professional development to maintain high standards of nursing excellence.
Qualifications
- Strong leadership and team management skills to manage nursing and paramedical staff effectively
- In-depth knowledge of patient care standards, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance
- Proficiency in developing and implementing policies, procedures, and operational workflows
- Experience in training, mentoring, and performance evaluation within a healthcare setting
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration across all levels
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a related field; Master’s in Nursing or Healthcare Management preferred
- 15+ years of progressive nursing experience, including a leadership role in a healthcare institution
- Familiarity with JCI and NABH accreditation standards
