Role Description The Chief Legal Officer (CLO) is a full-time remote role responsible for overseeing all legal matters across Adinath Rice Company and its related entities. This role leads the development and implementation of legal strategies that support global trading, exporting, and corporate initiatives while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations in multiple jurisdictions. Day-to-day responsibilities include providing legal advice to senior leadership, managing contracts and commercial agreements, handling regulatory and compliance issues, and overseeing dispute resolution and litigation as needed. The CLO will design and maintain corporate governance frameworks, support labor and employment law matters, and collaborate with cross-functional teams such as finance, operations, and HR. The role also involves monitoring legal and regulatory changes, managing external counsel, and contributing to risk management policies to safeguard the company’s interests and reputation.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Law with the ability to interpret and apply legal principles to complex business scenarios.
- Expertise in handling Legal Issues and providing practical Legal Advice to executive leadership and operational teams.
- Demonstrated experience in Corporate Governance, including board support, policy development, and compliance frameworks.
- Proficiency in Labor and Employment Law, particularly in contexts involving multi-country operations and diverse workforces.
- Advanced degree in law (LLB or JD; LLM preferred) and admission to practice in at least one relevant jurisdiction.
- 10+ years of progressive legal experience, including senior leadership roles in corporate or international trade environments.
- Proven ability to manage cross-border transactions, regulatory compliance, and contractual negotiation in export or FMCG sectors.
- Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote, collaborative setting.
- Experience overseeing external counsel and managing legal budgets and resources efficiently.
- High ethical standards, sound judgment, and the capacity to balance risk management with business priorities.
