- Civil-Systems Interface Management
- Combined Services Drawings (CSD): Coordinating the creation of drawings that show all systems (piping, ducting, cabling) in a single view to ensure they do not physically collide in the limited space of an underground station or tunnel.
- Structural Requirements: Ensuring the Civil team provides necessary openings (cut-outs), sleeves, and foundations for electrical panels, transformers, and signaling equipment.
- Space Management: Managing the allocation of space in the "Technical Rooms" and tunnel walkways for various contractors.
- E&M (Electrical & Mechanical): Coordinating the integration of tunnel ventilation systems (TVS) and environmental control systems (ECS) with the tunnel structure.
- TPS (Traction Power Supply): Managing the interface for Overhead Equipment (OHE) or Third Rail mountings and the grounding/earthing systems throughout the underground stretch.
- Signaling & Telecomm: Ensuring that signal equipment and antennae locations have a clear line of sight and are protected from electromagnetic interference (EMI).
- SCADA: Overseeing the integration of remote monitoring systems that connect all mechanical and electrical assets to the central control center.
- Interface Control Documents (ICD): Developing and maintaining the ICDs, which are formal agreements between two contractors (e.g., Tunneling vs. Signaling) regarding who provides what at the boundary point.
- Conflict Resolution: Leading meetings to resolve technical disputes when one system's requirements (like a large fire pipe) block another's (like a cable tray).
- Testing & Commissioning: Coordinating "Integrated Testing" to ensure that when a fire alarm goes off (Systems), the fans start (E&M) and the trains stop at the correct location (Signaling).
- Ensuring that all interface designs comply with international metro safety standards (like EN 50126 for RAMS).
- Verifying that fire-stopping measures are implemented at all points where cables or pipes cross between different fire compartments in the underground station.
