Meritto is a category leader in AI-powered Vertical SaaS for India's education sector — a 500+ person organization built over eight years with financial discipline, deep cultural intent, and a long-term view on people. We've built something real. Now we're entering our next phase of scale, and we're looking for the person who will architect the people side of that journey.
This is a rare opportunity: you'll join at the inflection point — after the hard early work is done, and before the rewards of scale are realized. You'll have a clean slate to bring your best thinking into an organization that is ready to absorb it. You'll work directly with the Founder, the leadership team, and the board to shape the long-term people agenda for a company on an public market trajectory.
We're looking for someone who has operated inside well-structured, high-caliber organizations — and is now energized by the challenge of bringing those learnings into a growing company and seeing the compounding effect of their own work. Someone who builds with care, moves with urgency, and leads with conviction.
What You Will Drive
1. People Strategy & Organizational Scale
- Own the overall people strategy aligned to business growth and Public market
- Build scalable org structures, operating rhythms, and governance frameworks
- Bring and implement proven scale playbooks from high-caliber organizations
- Drive strong people metrics, visibility, and leadership decision frameworks
2. Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
- Own and scale the end-to-end hiring engine across all levels
- Build predictable leadership and high-quality talent pipelines
- Improve speed, quality, and cost efficiency of hiring
- Partner with leadership on org design and workforce planning
3. Performance, Engagement & Culture
- Champion a culture where people do their best work - high ownership, high trust, high accountability
- Scale systems for goal-setting, performance management, and accountability
- Drive engagement, retention, and internal mobility at scale
- Create the kind of environment people actively choose to stay in
4. Leadership Development & Capability Building
- Build strong leadership pipelines and succession plans
- Drive manager effectiveness and next-line readiness
- Create structured L&D programs aligned to business needs
- Enable teams to operate at higher productivity and ownership levels
Who This Role Is For
You've spent 15+ years in HR, talent, and people leadership - and you've done it well. You've seen what great looks like, built things that lasted, and earned credibility through outcomes. Now you're looking for a role where your experience truly compounds
- Experience inside well-structured, high-caliber organizations — and genuine excitement to bring that into a scaling company
- A strong track record of building HR systems, processes, and cultures — not just designing them, but owning outcomes
- The ability to operate in a fast-moving environment without over-structuring or slowing things down
- A business-first mindset - you understand what the company is building and why the people agenda has to serve that
