Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Chief Engineer role located in India. The Chief Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the daily technical operations and maintenance of vessels, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Key responsibilities include managing engine room operations, supervising technical staff, inspecting vessel equipment, and implementing preventative maintenance programs. The role also involves troubleshooting, conducting regular reports, and ensuring optimal vessel performance.
Qualifications
- Strong technical expertise in marine engineering, including maintenance and troubleshooting of marine machinery and systems
- Proficient understanding of maritime safety regulations, including ISM Code, SOLAS, and MARPOL
- Proven experience in personnel management, including leading and training engineering teams
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in high-pressure situations
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with crew and management teams
- Must hold a valid Chief Engineer’s license, pursuant to STCW requirements
- Familiarity with energy efficiency and fuel optimization practices is an advantage
- Previous experience on diverse vessel types, including commercial and cruise ships, is preferred
