Role Purpose
We are seeking a business-first technology leader to serve as Chief Business Technology Officer. This is not an infrastructure-maintenance role. The CBTO will use technology, data, automation and AI to deliver measurable improvements in restaurant EBITDA, revenue, guest loyalty, productivity and operating reliability.
The incumbent will work closely with the CEO, Executive Leadership Team and Business Heads to convert business priorities into a focused technology roadmap with clear ownership, timelines, investment logic and quantified returns. AI will be treated as an enabling tool to achieve business outcomes, not as a standalone deliverable.
Core KRAs and Expected OutcomesKRA 1: Improve Restaurant EBITDA
· Identify and implement technology-led opportunities to reduce food waste, pilferage, inventory variance and process leakage.
· Use data and forecasting tools to improve demand planning, production planning, purchasing and inventory optimisation.
· Optimise manpower deployment and productive hours through workforce planning, scheduling, automation and workflow redesign.
· Digitise FOH, BOH, central-kitchen, cloud-kitchen and corporate workflows to reduce manual effort and improve process compliance.
· Define baseline metrics and deliver measurable improvements in cost, productivity and restaurant-level profitability.
KRA 2: Grow Revenue, Loyalty and Guest Value
· Strengthen digital ordering across dine-in, takeaway, delivery, web, mobile and aggregator channels.
· Build and optimise CRM, loyalty and customer-data capabilities to improve frequency, retention, personalisation and lifetime value.
· Use customer analytics, menu intelligence and targeted interventions to increase average ticket size, conversion and repeat business.
· Integrate POS, CRM, loyalty, payments, delivery and digital-commerce platforms to create a consistent and frictionless guest experience.
· Track revenue and customer KPIs and demonstrate the commercial impact of each major technology intervention.
KRA 3: Ensure Reliable, Scalable and Secure Technology Operations
· Ensure high availability and performance of restaurant and corporate technology platforms, including POS, ERP, network, applications and integrations.
· Prepare and execute a time-bound plan to resolve current IT pain areas, recurring failures and operational bottlenecks.
· Strengthen cybersecurity, data governance, compliance, disaster recovery and business-continuity frameworks.
· Evaluate, upgrade and integrate ERP, POS, Finance, HRMS, Procurement, Inventory and Business Intelligence platforms.
· Establish service standards, escalation mechanisms, dashboards and accountability for internal teams and technology partners.
Additional Responsibilities
· Develop a pragmatic technology roadmap aligned with business priorities, investment capacity and measurable ROI.
· Build business cases for technology investments, with defined benefits, payback periods, implementation risks and success metrics.
· Apply AI, analytics and automation to recruitment, workforce planning, customer insights, inventory, demand forecasting and management reporting.
· Build and lead a high-performing technology team with a culture of ownership, speed, innovation and continuous improvement.
· Manage technology budgets, vendor partnerships, contracts and enterprise technology governance.
· Communicate technology priorities and performance in clear commercial and financial terms to senior leadership.
Ideal Candidate Profile
· Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline; MBA strongly preferred.
· Approximately 10-12 years of progressive technology leadership experience, including substantial ownership of enterprise digital transformation.
· Experience as a CTO, Chief Business Technology Officer, Head of Technology, VP Technology or equivalent business-facing technology leader.
· Meaningful experience in Hospitality, Restaurants, QSR or a closely comparable multi-location consumer business is strongly preferred.
· Strong financial and commercial understanding, with the ability to connect technology initiatives to EBITDA, revenue, productivity and ROI.
· Hands-on, outcome-oriented leadership style with direct accountability for implementation and benefits realization.
· Strong knowledge of ERP, POS, CRM, loyalty, digital ordering, mobile platforms, cloud, cyber security, AI/ML, data analytics and enterprise architecture.
· Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional transformation programmes and influencing senior business stakeholders.
· Candidates from consulting backgrounds must demonstrate clear operating ownership, implementation accountability and measurable post-implementation outcomes.
Performance Measures
· Quantified improvement in restaurant EBITDA and controllable operating costs.
· Revenue uplift, loyalty growth, repeat frequency and improvement in average ticket size.
· Reduction in waste, inventory variance, manual work and manpower hours.
· System uptime, closure of identified pain areas and improvement in service reliability.
· Realization of approved business cases within agreed timelines and budgets.
