Chief Architect - High Performance Computing and Data Science
Role Overview:
The Chief Architect - High Performance Computing and Data Science will serve as the principal architect of DSU’s B200 supercomputing infrastructure, ensuring it functions as a reliable, scalable, and high-performance backbone for all Centres of Excellence.
This role is responsible for designing system architectures, optimizing compute utilization, and enabling large-scale AI, data-intensive science, and high-performance computing workloads. The Centre will support foundational research in AI, genomics, climate science, astrophysics, materials science, and other compute-heavy domains. In addition to infrastructure leadership, the Chief Architect will drive research in parallel computing, distributed systems, performance engineering, and next-generation AI infrastructure, while training faculty and researchers in best-in-class HPC practices.
Short Summary:
Leads DSU’s High Performance Computing and Data Science, enabling scalable AI, big data, and scientific computing across all centres of excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect, manage, and optimize large-scale HPC and AI computing infrastructure.
- Drive 15% compute utilization for system optimization and shared scientific workloads.
- Support big science initiatives including genomics, climate modeling, and astrophysics.
- Develop efficient parallel computing frameworks and scheduling strategies.
- Lead research in MPI, CUDA, distributed systems, and performance engineering.
- Train faculty and researchers in high-performance computing best practices.
Desired Profile:
- Senior architect or leadership role from C-DAC, IISc Supercomputing Centre, or equivalent.
- Deep expertise in parallel computing, system architecture, and AI infrastructure.
- Proven experience managing large-scale national or academic supercomputing systems.
