Description
Our growing practice is seeking a part-time Ophthalmic Technician to join our Chicago office. In this role, you will support our ophthalmologists in delivering high-quality patient care by assisting with clinical and diagnostic procedures. Responsibilities include collecting patient medical histories, preparing patients for examinations, performing vision tests, measuring intraocular pressure, administering prescribed eye drops, and assisting with minor procedures.

- Strong understanding of ophthalmic procedures, equipment, and patient care.
- Sensitivity to and respect for cultural differences and diverse backgrounds.
- In depth understanding of patient privacy laws and HIPAA compliance to protect sensitive patient information.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients and healthcare providers.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and while managing multiple tasks.
- Experience with NexTech EMR or similar electronic medical records systems preferred.
Highschool diploma or equivalent required. Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification is required, and Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification is preferred. Experience with LASIK procedures is a plus. Ability to speak Italian, Polish, Russian or Spanish is highly desired.
Hours:
Mondays: 12:00PM-4:00PM
Tuesdays: 7:45AM -11:45AM and 7:45AM -3:00PM the following week
Wednesdays: 8:00AM -3:00PM
Fridays: 7:30AM -12:30 PM
