About the role

Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Scribe to join our growing team. The Scribe will be responsible for accurately documenting information, transcribing notes, and maintaining clear and organized records to support efficient workflow and communication. 

Requirements

  • Accurately and thoroughly document patient medical histories, physical examinations, and details of procedures and treatments performed by healthcare providers.
  • Record physician-dictated diagnoses, prescriptions, self-care instructions, and follow-up care directives.
  • Prepare referral letters as directed by healthcare providers, ensuring completeness and proper distribution to appropriate parties.
  • Maintain medical documentation in compliance with legal, ethical, and practice-specific standards, upholding patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Perform ancillary duties including dictation, faxing, telephone communications, and other clerical tasks related to patient care.
  • Identify and correct errors or inconsistencies in medical records to ensure accuracy and minimize documentation discrepancies.
  • Verify completeness of patient charts and notify providers of any missing or incomplete information.
  • Travel between three locations (Chicago, Lombard and Elgin).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

To successfully perform this role, an individual must competently fulfill all essential responsibilities. The requirements listed represent the knowledge, skill, and ability required for the Medical Scribe position.   • Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems, such as NextGen, is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, diagnostic procedures, pharmacology, and treatment assessments.
  • Strong diction skills and the ability to communicate clearly.
  • Exceptional customer service and excellent phone skills are necessary.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
  • Adaptable, highly motivated, and able to work independently.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulations, medical law, and HIPAA compliance.
  • Highschool Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to speak Italian, Polish, Russian or Spanish is highly desired.
